John Van Alsten
John has > 25 years of experience in manufacturing and process development of APIs at Pharmacia & Upjohn/Pharmacia/Pfizer, Vertex, Nitto-Avecia, and now Oligo Factory. Experience in manufacturing scales have ranged from milligrams to metric tons, and included small molecule therapeutics such as Medrol®, Eraxis®, and Kalydeco® and the oligonucleotide adjuvant CpG 1018 utilized in Heplislav-B ®.
At Oligo Factory, he expanded the portfolio to include many diagnostics and purification oligos. John is especially passionate about helping clients optimize the quality and minimize the cost of their materials while working to understand the impact of critical quality attributes on product performance.
John holds B.Sc. degrees in chemistry and physics from Hope College and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
